Short Summary: Israel has killed 33,137 innocent civilians, including women and children. The U.S. supports this genocide by sending weapons to Israel and we can help stop this genocide by spreading awareness.
Why is Israel attacking Palestine?
Since the jews were driven away from their homeland (which is the land of Palestine) by the Roman Empire in 70 CE, they’ve been facing severe discrimination in Europe for nearly 2000 years (particularly during the Middle Ages and the Holocaust). They agreed that the best way to avoid anti-semitism (which means discrimination towards the jews) was to establish their own independent state in Palestine, leading to the 1948 Arab-Israeli War which displaced 750,000 Palestinians from their ancestral lands (also called “the Nakba” which is Arabic for “catastrophe”). Since then, Israel and Palestine have been fighting over the land for 70 years. When Hamas (the Islamic Resistance Movement) struck Israel on October 7th in resistance to Israel’s advances (such as the Gaza Strip Blockade), Israel began its genocide in Gaza.
Why is the U.S. supporting Israel?
The U.S. is an empire and their goal (like any other empire in history) is to control the world’s resources and markets. The Middle East is important to any empire, because it’s where oil and global trade passes through. Israel is important to the U.S. because they serve as their attack dog in the Middle East, doing the jobs that the U.S. can’t do or would look too evil to do. To sum it up, the U.S. cares more about world domination instead of peace.
Why should you care?
Because this is a battle between world peace and imperialism (which means domination from a single country). Israel and the U.S. is selfishly killing thousands of innocent people for land: are we going to let this world be a place where this is okay? If you want a world where human lives matter the most, then you should care about this.
What can we do about this?
Remember that your attention is valuable and it is what skyrockets celebrities to fame. It’s time to use our attention responsibly by blocking celebrities and influencers that aren’t using their fame to support Palestine (also called “the digitine”). Because spreading awareness about Palestine’s situation doesn’t cost them anything, yet the impact can be life-changing.
For example, a TikTok content creator called @yuvaltheterrible got to raise over $20,000 within seven and a half hours for a Palestinian family just by putting their donation link on his profile. He didn’t say anything about them, he didn’t make a video about them: he only put their link on his profile and it changed their lives just like that. If this is the power that these influencers hold, what valid excuse do they have at all?
Aside from blocking these influencers, you can also like, comment, and share social media content about Palestine to boost its presence on the algorithm. When the world collectively agree to stop this genocide, everything will change.
